ZF Rane Automotive India Private Limited is a joint venture partnership with ZF Lifetec Group. It is a leading manufacturer of automotive occupant safety systems in India, combining global technology leadership with strong local manufacturing expertise. Established in 1997, the company has built a strong legacy in the design and manufacture of seat belt systems, supporting India’s growing passenger vehicle market with reliable and safety-critical solutions.
The company operates an extensive manufacturing footprint across six locations in India – Chennai, Trichy, Pune and Gurugram, ensuring scale, flexibility and proximity to key automotive OEMs.
In line with evolving vehicle safety regulations and customer requirements, ZF Lifetec Rane commenced airbag manufacturing in 2013, further strengthening its comprehensive occupant safety portfolio. Strengthening its position further, ZF Lifetec Rane Automotive India Private Limited has acquired 100% stake in TRW Sun Steering Wheels Private Limited (TSSW). TSSW is a well-established manufacturer of steering wheels for the Indian automotive market, operating manufacturing plants in Gurugram and Pune and supplying a diverse range of passenger vehicle OEMs.
ZF Lifetec Rane offers a wide range of advanced safety products, including steering wheels, airbags and seat belt technologies. Its airbag portfolio comprises driver airbags, passenger airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags. Seat belt solutions include retractor and anchor pretensioners, emergency locking retractors (ELR), load limiters and child restraint seat belt systems, all engineered to meet stringent global safety and quality standards.
The company is supported by extensive in-house testing and validation facilities for seat belts, including extraction and retraction force testing machines, retractor durability testers, hot and cold chambers, salt spray chambers and ELR functional testers. These capabilities ensure robust product performance, durability and compliance with international automotive safety norms.
